IN SICKNESS AND IN WEALTH

Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said,

“If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”

Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?” But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, “Who touched Me?”” And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. - 3 John 1:2

God does not want you to hobble through life. He wants you to live a purposeful life, enjoying divine health and wealth. To that aim, it is just as much His will for you to be healed in your finances as it is in your body. When the ‘Woman with the issue of blood’ received healing in her body, by her own determination, Jesus said to her, “Your faith has made you well.” But then, after that, He told her, “Go in peace and be healed of your affliction!”

“If she was already made well by her faith, what affliction was left to be healed?”

The answer lies in the circumstances surrounding her healing. She spent all that she had on many physicians and was now broke! Although she had the faith to obtain whatever she desired, she only went as far as her physical condition! Maybe, like many, she did not believe that God would restore her finances just as easily as He would heal her body. Fortunately for her, Jesus sees both bodily disease and financial lack as ‘afflictions,’ and, therefore, took the opportunity to heal her of both. God is love. He cares about every facet of your life, not just the parts you choose to focus on. Therefore, your health and your wealth are of equal importance to Him. That is why He wishes above all things that you prosper and be in health. However, the key to living in perpetual health and wealth is to have a prosperous soul and mind.
